In July 2022, NLT Group coordinated with Yasuda Group – a leading Japanese contractor – to focus intensively and urgently deploy 21 flood monitoring and warning points for Ho Chi Minh City caused by heavy rain and tidal surges. This is one of the key projects to which NLT Group has paid great attention in terms of implementation, investing significant time, effort, and resources, with the aim of preventing risks caused by natural disasters for residents in Ho Chi Minh City.

As early as the National Conference on Fluid Mechanics held in Vung Tau in 2006, a leading scientist in the field of irrigation exclaimed:
“Climb a ladder to ask the heavens – Where does the city’s floodwater go?”
Rapid urbanization that is not synchronized with the urban drainage system has caused regrettable consequences, profoundly affecting daily life and development for local residents. When water cannot be drained, it leads to traffic congestion, environmental pollution, loss of urban civility, and more. This situation seems to repeat itself again and again, “right on schedule.” There are many causes of flooding in Ho Chi Minh City, including both subjective and objective factors:

Solution for deploying flood monitoring and warning installation in Ho Chi Minh City

- When flooding occurs due to tidal surges or rain, the system automatically measures water levels and transmits data to the server. After analyzing the received data at flooded points via wireless technology, the center provides accurate flood warnings at specific locations for timely response.
- Currently, the system can operate on website and mobile app platforms and share information with residents, enabling them to proactively plan their movement during peak flooding seasons, avoid congestion, and minimize damages such as collisions and water hammer effects, etc.
