On the morning of 17/11, Dr. Bui Huu Phu – Chairman of NLT Group delivered a presentation at the workshop “Digital Transformation in Agriculture in Quang Binh Province”, co organized by the Department of Science and Technology, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry, to promote digital transformation in the agriculture sector, improve efficiency, and enhance productivity.

According to the opening statement, although there is strong potential and advantages and there has been guidance and attention from authorities at all levels, in practice, digital transformation activities in agriculture in Quang Binh in recent years have still faced a number of difficulties and limitations, and have not achieved as many results as expected.

The main reasons are that the application of digital technology in agricultural production and business in Vietnam is still relatively new, so awareness among most localities, businesses, and especially farmers remains limited; connectivity infrastructure is not yet synchronized, 3G and 4G costs remain high; data systems for integration and sharing are limited or do not meet requirements for connectivity and processing; the quality of specialized human resources remains limited; and digital transformation policies in agriculture need to be adjusted to better fit practical conditions…

As shared by Dr. Bui Huu Phu – Chairman of NLT Group at the workshop, reality shows that digital transformation in agriculture is a correct direction, but it still faces many challenges because agricultural production models in the province are mainly small scale, low efficiency, and lack value chain linkages. The level of mechanization remains low, as do supporting technologies for agricultural development (mechanical engineering, deep processing, agricultural product testing lines…). With the Groups digital transformation ecosystem for agriculture, it will help shift from manual labor, increase labor productivity, accelerate development and the value of agricultural products; respond promptly to resource depletion caused by climate change; accumulate data, manage cultivation, production and consumption end to end, enhance transparency, and deliver benefits for all stakeholders.

NLT Group smart agriculture solution

The solution “Monitoring supervision and automatic control system for alerts and forecasting of natural disasters and water quality for disaster prevention” applying IoT, AI, GIS, Cloud and Big Data technologies from NLT Group will promote digital transformation and advance high tech agriculture for Quang Binh Province. With this solution, NLT Group has successfully implemented many real world projects for provinces in the Mekong Delta region.

The environmental monitoring system includes automatic monitoring stations that measure and collect comprehensive environmental information such as flood water level, salinity, rainfall, pH, temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction, etc. The collected information will be transmitted to the center via the 3G network. At the center, the management software will collect and store the collected data in the monitoring database system. It will then be processed and delivered through the Website system and mobile app so that state management agencies and residents have sufficient information for disaster prevention and response.

In addition, when collected indicators exceed regulated thresholds, the system can automatically control and trigger response systems via the smart IoT network, such as activating flood prevention pumping systems, activating the opening or closing of sluice gates for water collection or drainage, etc. All environmental monitoring stations use solar power for operation. These stations are compact in design and convenient to deploy and install.

Through this workshop, NLT Group aims to promote development cooperation among the research community, businesses, and state management agencies in Quang Binh Province in the field of Agriculture 4.0 technology. NLT Group hopes that in the future, solutions and products developed on our AI, IoT and GIS Cloud platform will contribute to building a smart agriculture system for Quang Binh Province and other localities nationwide, thereby improving efficiency and sustainability for Vietnams agriculture sector.
