Basic devices of a smart parking system

A complete smart parking system will include all essential devices such as camera control equipment, card readers, a cabin, computer systems, automatic barriers, sensors, etc. However, depending on the scale of the parking facility, certain devices can be replaced or streamlined to reduce costs for investors.

System cabinet, security booth

• With smart parking management solutions using RFID cards or barcodes, the first device to consider is the equipment cabinet (also known as the cabin or security booth). The booth is designed in various forms to suit different parking locations.
• Main function: to house the computer and parking management software system. Without the computer and software system, the solution cannot operate.
• The computer and server system will be consulted and implemented by the installation team to match each parking model.

Parking surveillance cameras

A smart parking camera system includes license plate cameras and panoramic cameras. It uses RFID technology and AI-based automatic license plate recognition.

Card-based parking device

• Function: similar to traditional parking tickets, RFID cards help control entry and exit to the parking area.
• How it works: Depending on each smart parking model, an appropriate number of card readers will be used to maximize the effectiveness of the parking management system.

Barrier gate

LED display board

• Function: The LED board displays information such as license plates or payment amounts when vehicles enter or exit, and can also show guidance messages in standby mode.
• How it works: Connects to the computer via COM or TCP/IP ports

Operating principle of the smart parking system

Inbound lane

Tap card (short-range, long-range) -> Camera captures the license plate and full-vehicle image -> The system stores data, analyzes, and sends signals to the control hardware -> The barrier lifts to allow the driver to pass through.

Outbound lane

Tap card -> Camera captures the license plate and full-vehicle image -> The software verifies and compares data based on entry information or the vehicle list in the database -> The system confirms whether payment has been made -> The barrier lifts to allow the driver to exit.
