The underground musical fountain project at Van Xuan Park in the capital city of Ha Noi was designed and constructed by NLT Group from the end of 2023 and completed right before the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin 2024. Van Xuan underground musical fountain construction project
Located at the intersection of Phan Dinh Phung Street and Quan Thanh Street, Van Xuan Flower Garden is considered a “green lung” that attracts tourists and local residents to visit and relax in Ha Noi Old Quarter. The site is closely associated with the historical relic of Hang Dau Water Tower – a century-old landmark and an iconic structure of the capital.
Under Plan 332/KH-UBND in 2021 on renovating, upgrading and building new parks and flower gardens across the city from 2021 to 2025, in order to increase utility, enhance urban landscape and public space, the People’s Committee of Ba Dinh District began renovating Van Xuan Flower Garden from the end of 2023 with a total investment of approximately VND 14 billion, upgrading landscaping items, benches, and installing an automatic fountain system with lighting effects.
Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ba Dinh District, Mr. Ta Nam Chien, said that before starting the renovation, the district worked with design units to develop an open space that both serves recreational activities for residents and tourists and provides an area to organize community events, creating a new, unique tourism product associated with the historical relic of Hang Dau Water Tower.
In taking on the task of renovating this flower garden, NLT Group paid special attention to historical and cultural factors. We worked with the People’s Committee of Ba Dinh District on a solution to create an extended central axis connecting the space with the architectural heritage of Hang Dau Water Tower.
Along this spatial axis, the underground musical fountain performance area was installed to serve as a gathering point for community activities and recreation, depicting images of a peaceful, prosperous and happy life.

Musical fountain equipment for the Van Xuan Park project
After reviewing the park’s drawings, NLT Group proposed expanding the activity square with a highlight performance area: an artistic musical fountain system consisting of 52 water jets arranged in 4 rows, with jet patterns and lighting colors changing according to the music.
The system uses straight-stream nozzles with flexible joints for fine-tuning spray directions. This is a widely used and highly versatile artistic fountain nozzle commonly applied in many fountain projects. When combined, they can create a wide variety of impressive water effects. The standout feature of the Van Xuan musical fountain is the linear chasing spray effect by nozzle clusters.
For this Van Xuan Park project, NLT Group used ring-type LED lights with a center hole, 36W/24VDC, with the outstanding capability of unlimited color control under the DMX standard. Each light is integrated with a driver that receives and transmits control signals so that light effects can be managed individually for each fixture.
Here, children can freely play, run around and immerse themselves in the rhythm of the musical fountain – something they previously only experienced at tourist destinations. The lively, energetic atmosphere at Van Xuan Flower Garden is now completely different from its former quiet, tranquil character. It has become a shared space connecting generations and serving many different user groups.
