On the morning of December 08 in Phan Rang – Thap Cham City, NLT Group coordinated with the Ninh Thuan Provincial Department of Transport to deploy and install a smart traffic system, applying advanced traffic signal control technology at the Hai Thuong Lan Ong – Vo Nguyen Giap intersection, aiming to reduce congestion and improve the efficiency of the city’s traffic network.
Phan Rang – Thap Cham City is the political, economic, and social center of the province, where the number of people and the density of vehicles participating in traffic have been increasing rapidly. Motorbikes are the most common means of transport, and during peak hours, streets are congested by thousands of motorbikes at each intersection.
Meanwhile, the awareness and voluntary compliance with traffic laws of a segment of residents remain inadequate; traffic infrastructure, although invested in and upgraded, has not fully met actual conditions; many projects and construction works are being implemented simultaneously on major roads, significantly affecting traffic order and safety.
To address these challenges, as well as to move toward building Phan Rang – Thap Cham City into a smart city, the intelligent transportation system (ITS) developed by NLT Group helps enhance traffic information and improve management and operational efficiency. Developing infrastructure for ITS enables data sharing and common use among stakeholders such as departments and agencies. As a result, the city can save significant costs in traffic data management and exploitation.
With a new algorithm combined with embedded computing technology, the smart traffic control cabinet installed by NLT Group at the intersection is capable of operating 24/7 with high reliability, counting traffic volume by direction/flow and automatically adjusting traffic signal strategies based on real-time traffic volumes at even the most complex intersections in Phan Rang – Thap Cham City.
Instead of traffic police or public service staff manually controlling traffic lights at intersections as before, operators at the IOC center can now intervene and control the system after analyzing the most optimal traffic solutions for the surrounding area.

The cabinet ensures that traffic signals always operate accurately, determines the timing of green and red lights, and simultaneously monitors the safe operation of the intersection. Various sensing devices used to measure traffic density (such as inductive loops, radar, and surveillance cameras) are connected to the cabinet to control traffic based on real conditions. Moreover, it can connect with control cabinets at other intersections, forming a comprehensive traffic management system for the city.

The Hai Thuong Lan Ong – Vo Nguyen Giap intersection is a pilot project of NLT Group’s Intelligent Traffic Control System, based on core technologies of the digital revolution such as Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Image Processing, Machine Learning, and Big Data Analytics, developed and deployed by NLT Group.
Traffic conditions are continuously updated and traffic signal timings are constantly adjusted appropriately across the entire city to ensure smooth traffic flow. Furthermore, these improvements in traffic conditions will enhance compliance with traffic discipline and safety among road users, while also contributing to an improved quality of life for urban residents.

In the field of smart transportation, in recent times, NLT Group has focused on research and application of: AI cameras providing real-time traffic information, IOC traffic organization and operation centers, smart vehicle weighing systems for image-based violation handling and journey monitoring devices (automated penalty processing), and the development of public passenger transport, among others.
In the coming time, this project will continue to be deployed by the Group in other areas of the city, contributing to improved traffic conditions and bringing positive changes to traffic and Vietnam’s digital economy.
