On May 10, NLT Group coordinated with the Department of Transport and related units to deploy an intelligent traffic control system at an intersection in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City, aiming to reduce congestion and traffic accidents, and to enhance traffic management capacity toward a smart urban model.
With a population of more than 10 million people, Ho Chi Minh City is a hotspot for traffic safety issues. During peak hours, severe congestion occurs on many roads, not only paralyzing the city but also increasing harmful emissions. According to surveys, the city’s traffic control center has not yet met the requirements for automated traffic signal control technology. One hundred percent of intersections currently use traffic lights operating on fixed-time schedules by time blocks or by day. Traffic signal control cabinets lack the ability to automatically update signal status, cabinet status, and power supply status at intersections, which limits traffic flow capacity and leads to congestion.
From this reality, NLT Group held working sessions with central authorities to propose investment in projects to install, upgrade, and repair traffic signal intersections, as well as to install camera systems for synchronized, effective traffic monitoring, management, and operation. NLT Group proceeded to install intelligent traffic signal control cabinets together with AI camera systems at two intersections: Ung Van Khiem – Nguyen Gia Tri (formerly D2 Street), and Nguyen Gia Tri – D6, Binh Thanh District.
The system helps reduce total electricity consumption by approximately 70%. The control cabinet plays a crucial role in monitoring and controlling traffic signals, ensuring accurate signal operation and supervising the safe functioning of intersections. Moreover, these cabinets can connect with other control cabinets at different intersections to form a comprehensive citywide traffic management system.
In addition, cameras installed at intersections capture real-time traffic images. AI technology analyzes actual traffic conditions, influencing factors, and data from neighboring intersections to determine optimal signal timings for each direction in real time, 24/7.
The benefits of NLT Group’s intelligent traffic system include optimizing traffic flows, striving for smoother traffic movement, and minimizing travel time. This helps save travel time, reduce fuel and labor costs for vehicles, and lower emissions that pollute the environment. Furthermore, the system fully automates the entire process of controlling and monitoring the traffic network in an intelligent and optimized manner.
NLT Group believes that intelligent traffic systems based on IoT, AI, Big Data, and GIS technologies are the answer to the growing demand for efficient traffic management and environmental protection for residents.
